Just days after acquiring right-hander Sam Dyson from the San Francisco Giants, the Minnesota Twins have placed him on the 10-day injured list with right biceps tendinitis. In two appearances with his new team, Dyson had given up six runs in 2/3 of an inning.

The right-handed Dyson was 4-1 with two saves and a 2.47 ERA in 49 appearances for the Giants this season. Overall, the 31-year-old is 23-23 with 59 saves and a 3.29 ERA in 366 career appearances (one start) in parts of eight seasons for the Toronto Blue Jays, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers and Giants.

The Twins received Dyson in exchange for three prospects prior to Wednesday's trade deadline. San Francisco acquired outfielder Jaylin Davis and right-handers Kai-Wei Teng and Prelander Berroa in the deal. Taking Dyson's place on the roster is lefthander Devin Smeltzer, who was called up from Triple-A Rochester and is scheduled to start against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

In four games with the Twins this season (two starts), Smeltzer is 0-1 with a 2.91 ERA.
