France’s Olympique de Marseille to foray into Algeria, Morocco

Olympique de Marseille is on the last stage of preparation to unveil training centers or academies named OM School in Morocco and Algeria after its successful launch in Tunisia. The French football club based in France’s Marseille looks forward to breeds talents in Morocco and the African continent.
Olympique de Marseille inaugurated a football school in Tunisia’s capital, Tunis on July 31. This is the 119-year-old club’s first football academy outside of France. The school named Om School Tunis will open its doors on September 7. The school will reportedly bring children between 5 and 16 three times a week (for physical and psychological training sessions) with an enrolment set at 785 dinars (235 euros) per quarter, or twice the guaranteed minimum wage in Tunisia, Le Monde reported.
Founded on August 31, 1899, Olympique de Marseille (aka OM or simply Marseille) is now dedicatedly looking forward to open academies in Morocco and Algeria. The club officials said during the press conference at the opening of Om School Tunis that Algeria and Morocco are the next host countries of their project.
The officials further said that Olympique de Marseille is giving its efforts in search of talents for its League 1 team. The club is very much popular in North Africa and in continent’s other nations. It also won UEFA Champions League. The French club’s priority is not to create professionals but to train people. The schools are open to all children of all levels.
Olympique de Marseille has a large fan-base with regularly averaging the highest attendance in French football. The club’s average home gate for the 2008–09 season was 52,276, the highest in League 1. Its home ground is the 67,000-capacity Stade Vélodrome in the southern part of Marseille where they have played since 1937.
