Soccer-Coach Di Francesco leaves bottom-placed Sampdoria

Eusebio Di Francesco has become the first Serie A coaching casualty this season after he parted ways with Sampdoria on Monday following six defeats in their opening seven games. "President Massimo Ferrero and Sampdoria announce they have mutually agreed with Eusebio Di Francesco and his technical staff to end their professional relationship," the club said in a statement.
Italian Di Francesco, who was fired by AS Roma in March, was appointed by Sampdoria in June but lasted less than four months in the role. His sacking was confirmed two days after Saturday's 2-0 loss at Hellas Verona, which left his side bottom of the standings with three points.
