Columbus Blue Jackets rookie center Emil Bemstrom is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight weeks due to a dislocated rib and broken cartilage, the team announced Wednesday. Bemstrom sustained the injury during the Blue Jackets' 4-1 loss against Florida on Saturday. The injury appeared to occur on a crosscheck from the Panthers' Brian Boyle that was not penalized.

A 20-year-old Swede, Bemstrom has collected three goals, six assists and two penalty minutes in 28 games this season. Bemstrom matched a franchise rookie record with a five-game point streak (three goals, three assists) from Nov. 7-19.
