The Atlanta Falcons are expected to pick up quarterback Matt Schaub's $2 million option for 2020, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday. Schaub, 38, has been Matt Ryan's backup for the past three seasons in Atlanta. He completed 50 of 67 passes for 580 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in six games (one start) in 2019.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection (2009, 2012) as a starter for the Houston Texans, Schaub has also played with the Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens during his 15-year NFL career. He is 47-46 as a starter, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 25,467 yards, 136 touchdowns and 91 interceptions in 154 games.

Atlanta's third-round pick in 2004, Schaub led the NFL in completions (396), pass attempts (583) and passing yards (4,770) with the Texans in 2009.
