The legend plagued by injuries plans to retire after the 2019 World Cup and would not like to continue playing ODI and T20. However, he would continue playing the longer format.
"I will be trying to get to that World Cup (in England). But after the World Cup, I don't see myself playing white ball cricket for South Africa. By the time the next World Cup comes, I will be 40," said Steyn at an event.
This decision would leave South Africa with new gun Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel and Imran Tahir consolidating the South African pace attack.
This decision will be another tough pill to swallow after the retirement of AB De Villiers. The relatively young South African squad will have a tough time compensating for these two legends after a painful series against Sri-Lanka.
The semi-finalist of 2015 World Cup will hope to reach the knock out stage and tribute it to ABD. They would also like to wash away the tag of chokers.
