Google is rolling out an update that gives teachers more control over the resources for students in practice sets in Google Classroom.

Practice sets allow educators to transform educational content into engaging and interactive assignments. Currently, when a teacher selects a specific skill for a problem, relevant resources are activated for the students. This is indicated by a lightbulb icon next to the problem, and a resource tray labelled "extra help" appears to support learners.

With the latest update, teachers can now easily review the resources before they assign them to their students. They also have the ability to add their own resources or remove existing ones to provide tailored support to their students. This customization empowers educators to address specific learning needs and preferences.

The update also adds the ability for teachers to include text-based hints and YouTube videos that cater to the unique needs of their students. This personalization enhances engagement and comprehension. Additionally, educators can determine the order in which resources are presented to students.

"This update gives teachers more control over student resources and enables teachers to tailor the support their students receive within practice sets," Google said.

Practice sets are automatically enabled, but admins need to add teachers to the verified teacher group to facilitate the sharing of practice sets within Google Workspace. To access practice sets, teachers can navigate to Google Classroom and select "Practice sets" to create their assignments.

To manage resources within practice sets, navigate to the bottom of the problem, enter or select a skill, click the drop-down button for resources, click the '+' symbol and add a text hint.

To manage extra help resources in a practice set, click on "extra help" at the top-right corner of the page, then use the '+' symbol to add, rearrange, or delete resources based on selected skills.

Students can access practice sets only when assigned by their teacher.

The update is rolling out to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, with full visibility of the new features expected within 1-3 days starting from August 7, 2023. The new features will be available to Google Workspace for Education Plus and Google Workspace for Education Teaching and Learning Upgrade users.
