Infosys opens new proximity center in Sofia; will reskill, and upskill 500 new employees

Indian IT major Infosys has expanded its footprint in Europe with the opening of a new proximity center in Sofia, Bulgaria. The new facility aims to attract, re-skill, and up-skill 500 new employees over the course of the next four years.

The local employees at the new state-of-the-art center will work on global opportunities around next-generation digital technologies including Infosys Cobalt Cloud Solutions, Infosys Topaz AI & Automation, Data and Insights, IoT, 5G, and software engineering, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Commenting on this development, Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President, Co-Head of Delivery, Infosys, said, "We are dedicated to continuing to grow our footprint in Europe to bring our capabilities, skills and expertise ever closer to our clients. The new proximity center will provide an ideal environment for companies spanning various sectors such as financial services and retail, both within the country and throughout Europe, to convene and drive digital transformation efforts. It will serve as a hub for ideating, incubating, creating, and scaling innovative emerging tech-based solutions.

Infosys said that it will also use this new facility to rapidly scale up teams across digital and analytical capabilities as well as SAP and cloud.
