At CES 2024, Samsung Electronics unveiled 3D Map View - a feature that streamlines home management by turning real floor plans into virtual images. This innovative feature is now accessible globally in all countries where the SmartThings app is available.

3D Map View is integrated into the SmartThings app, compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as Samsung TVs. The feature will further expand to additional Samsung devices, including Family Hub refrigerators, promising full integration within the first half of the year.

Map View eases smart home management by eliminating the need to find each device separately before using it. With real-time updates as devices connect, users can effortlessly monitor and adjust their home's lighting, temperature, air quality, and energy usage from anywhere, at any time.

The all-new 3D Map View leverages Spatial AI in Samsung devices using LiDAR1 sensors in the device to precisely measure and map a home’s layout so that users can more easily understand the shape and spatial conditions of their homes on 3D maps.

The enhanced filter function allows for more efficient monitoring and control of connected devices. By the end of the year, the company aims to introduce AI characters to offer a more personalized and user-friendly smart service.

Samsung plans to expand Map View beyond homes to apartments and office spaces. To achieve this, the company is joining forces with construction companies.

"Samsung is constantly working to enable customers to control their home devices without any inconvenience at any time and place, and Map View is the result of these efforts said Seungbeom Choi. We will continue to introduce a variety of relevant services and features so our customers can enjoy optimal smart home experiences with a better life," Seungbeom Choi, Head of Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics.
