According to a recent survey conducted by LocalCircles, a staggering 89 per cent of mobile users have encountered call drops within the last three months. This widespread problem has led nine out of ten subscribers to increasingly rely on Wi-Fi networks and over-the-top (OTT) platforms like WhatsApp for making calls.
The survey, conducted between March and June, garnered 32,000 responses from various questions across 362 districts. However, the number of responses varied per question. The data highlights that 38 per cent of the affected respondents face call drop issues in over 20 per cent of their calls.
LocalCircles Founder Sachin Taparia noted that the growing dependence on OTT apps for Wi-Fi calls has been propelled by the persistent call connection and drop issues in mobile networks. The trend has been apparent for the past two years.
