Government Addresses Microsoft Global Outage

The IT ministry, led by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, is collaborating with Microsoft to address a global outage. The NIC network remains unaffected. CERT-In has issued a critical advisory regarding the disruption, linked to a Crowdstrike update that caused significant issues, including BSOD for Windows hosts.

The IT ministry is actively engaging with Microsoft to address a global outage, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Friday, clarifying that the NIC network remains unaffected.

In a post on X, Vaishnaw shared that the cause of the outage has been identified, and updates are being deployed to resolve the problem.

CERT-In has issued an advisory on the outage, attributed to a Crowdstrike update, and rated the issue's severity as 'critical.'

The minister emphasized that MEITY is in communication with Microsoft and its affiliates about the global disruption, which has impacted various sectors, including international airlines, banks, and media outlets.

The advisory specifically points out that Windows hosts equipped with Crowdstrike's 'Falcon Sensor' have been crashing and experiencing 'Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)' errors due to the recent update.
