India-UK Mega Technology Security Initiative: Elevating Strategic Partnership

India and the UK have launched the Technology Security Initiative to enhance collaboration in critical mineral sectors, clean energy, telecommunication, semiconductors, and new technologies. This initiative aims to bolster their strategic partnership, focusing on trade, defence, security, and the mobility of people.

India and the United Kingdom on Wednesday solidified a groundbreaking Technology Security Initiative designed to enhance collaboration across pivotal sectors such as critical minerals, clean energy, telecommunications, semiconductors, and emerging technologies. This move aims to take their strategic partnership to unprecedented levels.

The decision was announced after extensive discussions between India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his British counterpart, David Lammy. The bilateral talks also aimed to expedite negotiations for a free trade agreement, emphasizing cooperation in trade, defence, security, clean energy, digital domains, and the movement of people.

The Technology Security Initiative expands upon the ambitions laid out in the India-UK Roadmap 2030, sharpening focus on critical and emerging technologies in priority sectors. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the initiative will be managed through existing and new dialogues by the National Security Advisors of both countries.
