French authorities have identified far-left groups as suspects in the recent sabotage of the high-speed rail network, which caused travel chaos hours before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin stated that pre-dawn attacks on signal substations and cables were behind the disruptions.

Describing the attackers' profiles, Darmanin highlighted that evidence pointed towards far-left groups. The investigation, led by the Paris prosecutors office's organised crime branch, has yet to result in any arrests. Meanwhile, a police source noted it was premature to link the rail sabotage with recent telecommunications network vandalism.

Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete assured that train services resumed by Monday, with teams working tirelessly over the weekend to repair the damages. Approximately 800,000 commuters faced disruptions, and the financial toll on the state-owned rail operator SNCF is expected to be substantial.
