Ukraine Repels Massive Russian Drone Assault: 89 Drones Downed

Ukraine's air force successfully countered one of Russia's largest drone attacks, shooting down all 89 incoming drones aimed at Kyiv and its surrounding areas. The assault primarily targeted Kyiv, with local authorities confirming no direct hits on civilians or critical infrastructure. Around 11,500 residents sought shelter overnight.

In a significant overnight operation, Ukraine's air force successfully repelled one of the largest drone assaults launched by Russia since the onset of the conflict, managing to intercept 89 drones. This massive attack appears to have primarily targeted the capital, Kyiv, and its surrounding regions.

According to local authorities, while no civilian or critical infrastructure was directly hit, debris from the downed drones caused damage to the roofs, windows, and facades of 13 private residences. The air force identified the drones as Shahed-131/136 strike drones, a type Russia has frequently utilized against Ukraine.

Approximately 11,500 Kyiv residents sought refuge in metro stations as the drones approached from multiple directions. Despite the extensive waves, air defence systems effectively neutralized the threats, including a Kh-59 missile aimed at Mykolaiv. Russia has yet to comment on the incident.
