In a pioneering move, E-waste recycling company Attero has introduced Selsmart, a subsidiary aimed at collecting waste directly from households across 10 major cities. This initiative marks the country's first integrated consumer e-waste take-back platform.
CEO Nitin Gupta highlighted that Selsmart intends to expand its collection reach throughout India over the next three years. The goal is to generate annual recurring revenue (ARR) of Rs 1,000 crore by the third year. Presently, services are available in cities such as Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Chennai, where consumers can conveniently sell their electronic waste via the Selsmart website.
Attero, already processing 144,000 MT of e-waste annually, plans to ramp up its capacity to 415,000 MT within five years. Furthermore, the company is set to enhance its lithium-ion battery recycling capacity from 15,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes per annum. With a significant investment of over Rs 8,000 crore earmarked for expansion, Attero is poised to make a substantial impact on e-waste management in India.
