The Indian smartphone market experienced a significant 3.2% growth with 39 million units shipped in the second quarter of 2024, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC).

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo emerged as the market leader, securing a 16.5% share in volume and witnessing a 6.7% increase year-over-year (YoY).

Apple dominated the super-premium segment, with 83% of the market share for smartphones priced above Rs 67,000, followed by Samsung with a 16% share. In the premium segment (Rs 50,000 to Rs 67,000), Apple's share rose to 61% from last year’s 24%, while Samsung improved to 24% from 21%. The entry-premium segment saw the highest growth, increasing its share to 30% from 22%. Furthermore, 27 million 5G smartphones were shipped, making up 77% of the quarter's shipments.
