Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced on Thursday that India's first indigenously developed semiconductor chip will be manufactured in the state, which has so far secured an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the electronics and chip manufacturing sectors. The announcement was made during his address to a gathering in Nadiad town, Kheda district, after hoisting the Indian national flag on Independence Day.

CM Patel credited the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit for attracting significant investment in emerging sectors such as AI and semiconductor. He highlighted the state's achievement so far, noting the investment of Rs 1 lakh crore and the landmark step of manufacturing India's first semiconductor chip within Gujarat.

The Chief Minister also announced changes to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), increasing the monthly income limit for those seeking free ration from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000. He further detailed major infrastructure developments including a Rs 5,000 crore investment in road infrastructure, and reiterated the state's commitment to achieving renewable energy targets and boosting the solar rooftop scheme.
