A recent survey conducted by Localcircles has found that a whopping 95% of mobile subscribers receive unsolicited calls on a daily basis, with the majority of these calls originating from financial services and the real estate sector.
Despite being registered on the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) Do Not Disturb (DND) list, 96% of respondents reported still receiving these pesky calls, highlighting the diminishing effectiveness of the DND service over the past six months.
In response, TRAI is considering a revision of the current regulations, including potentially introducing higher tariffs for calls and SMS beyond a certain limit, as per a recent discussion paper aimed at tightening norms around telemarketing communications.
