ISRO's SpaDeX Docking Experiment: A Step Closer to Advanced Space Missions
ISRO announced a postponement of the SpaDeX satellites docking experiment to January 9 due to further validation needs. SpaDeX, a mission launched on December 30, aims to demonstrate in-space docking with two small satellites. The mission is vital for India's space ambitions, including future moon and space station plans.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has rescheduled the docking experiment of its SpaDeX satellites from January 7 to January 9. The postponement is due to the requirement for additional validation through ground simulations, prompted by an abort scenario identified on Monday.
Launched on December 30 aboard a PSLV C60 rocket, the ambitious SpaDeX mission consists of two small satellites designated SDX01 and SDX02, or the 'Chaser' and 'Target'. These were placed into a 475-kilometer circular orbit, marking another achievement for ISRO's growing space capabilities.
The SpaDeX mission is geared towards demonstrating in-space docking technology, a critical aspect of India's space ambitions, such as the development of a lunar mission, a sample return mission from the Moon, and the establishment of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station. This mission positions India on the path to becoming the world's fourth nation with space docking proficiency.
