AI Revolution in India: A Strategic Surge

In a strategic shift, Indian companies are significantly advancing their artificial intelligence (AI) strategies, with a recent IBM-sponsored study indicating a widespread focus on open-source solutions to enhance return on investment (ROI). Conducted by Morning Consult in collaboration with Lopez Research, the study revealed that 87% of Indian IT decision-makers are making substantial progress in executing their 2024 AI strategy. Notably, 76% have already observed positive ROI from these AI investments.

The research indicates a forthcoming increase in AI investments in 2025, as 93% of respondents plan to boost their AI portfolios while leveraging open-source ecosystems. However, as AI governance emerges as a primary concern, implementing responsible AI practices is becoming crucial. Tools that prioritize transparency, fairness, and privacy are considered vital in ensuring responsible AI use.

Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India & South Asia, emphasized the importance of responsible AI implementation for scaling its adoption. "India is rapidly embracing AI with a clear focus on innovation and ROI, but responsible usage is key," Patel remarked. "IBM remains committed to providing comprehensive AI solutions that emphasize transparency, trust, and choice," he added.
