Kliger, a 25-year-old aide backed by Elon Musk, was tasked with improving the IRS's software efficiency. However, his access to taxpayer data will remain heavily restricted and anonymized, ensuring no taxpayer's data is directly available to him.

Simultaneously, the IRS faces significant workforce cuts in line with President Trump’s government reduction strategy, driven by Musk. Approximately 6,700 jobs will be affected, a substantial measure aimed at shrinking federal operations.
