Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, an Israel-based cybersecurity giant, is set to bolster its presence in the Indian market by targeting the digital native space. According to a senior company official, the firm's Asia-Pacific and Japan President, Ruma Balasubramanian, highlighted the strategic importance of India to their operations during an exclusive interview with PTI.
Balasubramanian noted the increase in cyber threats facing Indian educational and healthcare institutions. She emphasized that as the threat landscape evolves, Check Point is ramping up its innovations to meet new challenges. The company is establishing its first Asia-Pacific Research and Development Centre in Bengaluru, reinforcing its strategic commitment to the region.
The R&D Centre aims to mitigate the global shortage of skilled cybersecurity personnel, particularly in India. The new hub, housing over 100 engineers, will develop core products like Check Point Quantum, focusing on enterprise-grade network security and Secure Access Service Edge. This move complements Check Point's main R&D hub in Tel Aviv.
