X, a company owned by billionaire Elon Musk, encountered a significant service disruption on Monday, affecting users worldwide. The issue was widely reported on the outage tracking website Downdetector, displaying thousands of complaints across different regions.
In India, reports peaked at around 3:30 pm with 2,200 notifications, only to spike again at 7:30 pm with 1,500 reports. In the US, about 20,000 cases were logged, whereas in the UK, 10,000 reports were recorded, indicating a more extensive impact globally.
Downdetector's data showed 53% of the problems were tied to the website, 41% to the app, and 6% in server connections. Users experienced difficulty with basic functions such as refreshing their feed or uploading posts. Despite significant disruptions, the services started normalizing later.
