Tejas LCA Successfully Test Fires Astra Missile

India's indigenously-built Tejas light combat aircraft successfully test-fired an air-to-air Astra missile. Conducted off the Odisha coast, the test showcased the missile's direct hit capability. Equipped with advanced navigation systems, Astra can engage targets over 100 km away. This milestone supports the LCA AF MK1A variant's induction.

India's locally developed Tejas light combat aircraft successfully executed a test launch of the homegrown air-to-air Astra missile on Wednesday.

The test, conducted off Odisha's Chandipur coast, confirmed the missile's ability to accurately strike airborne targets, according to the defence ministry.

Designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the Astra missile, already part of the Indian Air Force, can target over 100 km and features advanced guidance systems.
