The Income Tax Department has appointed IT firm LTIMindtree Ltd to spearhead the PAN 2.0 initiative, with the project set to go live in the coming year, according to an official announcement made on Monday.

The PAN 2.0 project aims to consolidate and streamline issues related to PAN and TAN, including allocation, updates, Aadhaar-PAN linking, and more, into a single, streamlined platform. It is designed to simplify PAN and TAN processes, providing better services to the public while enhancing grievance redressal mechanisms.

The implementation will see LTIMindtree operate as the Managed Service Provider, covering the design, development, implementation, operations, and maintenance of the system. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the Rs 1,435-crore project, with LTIMindtree set to integrate current services spread across multiple platforms into one unified portal.
