Estonian Defense Giant Expands in Dutch Military Manufacturing

Estonian defense firm Milrem Robotics, along with Dutch partners, will use space at a Netherlands factory owned by VDL for military production. In a significant development for European defense manufacturing, Estonian firm Milrem Robotics has collaborated with various Dutch drone companies to utilize space at a VDL-owned facility in the Netherlands. According to an announcement made by the Dutch Defence Ministry on Monday, the site will accommodate hundreds of workers involved in military production.

Milrem, known for its unmanned ground vehicles, is partnering with DeltaQuad and Tulip Tech. DeltaQuad is recognized for its deployments with the Dutch Air Force while Tulip Tech contributes with advancements in battery efficiency and drone range extension. Production specifics remain undisclosed due to security and commercial sensitivities.

Moreover, a range of other companies is reportedly exploring opportunities to engage in military production at the VDL site, which carried out car manufacturing for BMW up until March 2024. A VDL spokesperson noted the availability of substantial space, positioning the facility as a potential hub for defense innovation.
