United Kingdom and Northern Ireland have bestowed equipment to Kenya that will assist the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to continue investigations on anti-terrorism operations more diligently.

According to Standard Digital, the department also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK and Northern Ireland on the provision of crime scene investigation kits to be used by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit. The kit will enhance the anti-terror operations at large and the equipment will be used to gather evidence on authorised operations, DCI George Kinoti said.

"This is a big boost as it comes at a time when terrorism is an issue in our country. We will prudently use them," George Kinoti further said.

The British Prime Minister Theresa May visited to Kenya in August 2018 and declared that (Kenya-based) counter-terrorism facility would be expanded into the regional center. The expansion of improvised explosive device (C-IED) training facility at the Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS) in Kenya's capital Nairobi is UK-funded. The wing is likely to have developed into a fully-functioning, independent center of excellence by November 2020 where the instructors will provide specialized IED disposal training.

On the other hand, a recent Cabinet meeting in the State House approved an agreement where Germany has urged to donate 1.8 million euros for the construction of a Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Centre (C-IED Centre).
