India's AI Revolution: Sovereign Models Set to Transform Digital Landscape

India is focusing on sovereign AI models showcased at the AI Impact Summit, planning vast infrastructure to make them widely accessible. At the AI Impact Summit, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed plans to elevate India in the AI domain by making sovereign models widely accessible.

The models have demonstrated their capability on par with global giants. The minister emphasized the creation of extensive infrastructure as part of AI Mission 2.0 to achieve this goal.

Investment interests exceeding Rs 20,000 crore have been reported, with twelve organizations, including startups and academic entities developing language models from Indian datasets. The summit has seen overwhelming attendance, highlighting strong public interest and engagement in AI initiatives.
