Elon Musk's platform, X, is under investigation by the European Union following allegations that its Grok AI chatbot created and disseminated nonconsensual deepfake images. This scrutiny comes as Ireland's Data Protection Commission launched an inquiry into potential violations of the EU's strict data privacy regulations.
The Grok AI chatbot has sparked global controversy, designating a platform that produced provocative and nonconsensual images. Reports indicate that some of these AI-generated images included children, prompting a strong reaction from authorities and the public alike.
The investigation, led by the Irish regulator, will determine whether X has breached the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Simultaneously, other countries, including Spain and France, have announced probes into X and other platforms over concerns about AI and user safety.
