American sprinter Fred Kerley has been dealt a suspension due to missing three separate out-of-competition drug tests within a single year, as announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Friday.

According to the AIU, these missed tests qualify as whereabouts failures under the World Anti-Doping Code, which obliges athletes in a registered testing pool to provide their daily location details for surprise drug tests. Having three such failures within a year can lead to sanctions of up to two years.

Kerley, 30, renowned for his remarkable sprinting achievements, including a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, a bronze in Paris, and winning the 100-metre world title in 2022, has recently joined the Enhanced Games. This event, scheduled for May 24, 2026, in Las Vegas, controversially permits the use of performance-enhancing drugs that are otherwise banned in official competitions.
