Karnataka Leads with Responsible AI Initiative
Karnataka has formed a committee to establish a framework for the responsible use of AI in government systems, chaired by Kris Gopalakrishnan. The initiative aims to ensure AI technologies are used safely and ethically, promoting innovation while safeguarding citizen trust and transparency.
The Karnataka government, on Thursday, announced the formation of a committee dedicated to developing a comprehensive framework for responsible AI adoption across its services. This committee, chaired by Infosys Co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and co-chaired by Department Secretary N Manjula, aims to guide ethical AI use within public systems.
In its inaugural meeting, the committee explored the fast-evolving AI landscape, emphasizing the need for robust governance frameworks. The agenda includes crafting a responsible AI policy and an implementation roadmap that ensures safe, fair, transparent, and accountable AI systems within government operations.
The committee plans to submit an interim report within 60 days and a final set within 90 days, addressing risk classification and prohibited AI practices. It also aims to establish privacy safeguards and cybersecurity measures, enhancing Karnataka's cutting-edge yet responsible AI ecosystem.
