The Karnataka government has taken a significant step toward establishing itself as a leader in emerging technologies with the approval of a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Artificial Intelligence in Biotechnology. Slated to be situated in Electronics City, Phase 1, the CoE marks a forward-looking initiative by the state administration.

Headed by Minister Priyank Kharge, this initiative represents a significant investment aimed at reinforcing Karnataka's pioneering stance in technological innovation. The initiative will unfold over four years with a budget of Rs 20 crore, established in collaboration with the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP).

In conjunction with this initiative, the cabinet has also green-lit a public-private partnership to develop the Karnataka Technology & Innovation Museum at the NGEF campus. This venture will receive widespread support, with Rs 49 crore funded by the state. It aims to boost public engagement in science and technology.
