An Italian delegation, accompanied by representatives from a shipbuilding firm, engaged in progressive dialogues with Indian Coast Guard officials on Thursday, aiming at strengthening collaboration in shipbuilding and maritime technology, officials announced.
The delegation, composed of Fincantieri's senior members, was hosted at the Indian Coast Guard headquarters. Discussions primarily centered on partnering with Indian shipyards for upcoming projects, with an emphasis on advanced designs featuring resilient hulls, enhanced bollard pull, and hybrid/electric propulsion systems.
The talks also ventured into modular ship designs for adaptable, multi-role platforms and explored joint development of cutting-edge technologies such as AI-assisted decision systems and anti-drone defenses. This dialogue aligns with India's maritime security strategies and Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, the ministry emphasized.
