Indian Railways Pioneers AI and Blockchain for Workforce Verification
Indian Railways, one of the world's largest employers, is implementing DRISHTI, a Smart Workforce Management System using AI and blockchain technology. It aims to reduce fraud and enhance efficiency by verifying worker attendance through facial recognition and tamper-proof digital records, initially rolling out in Prayagraj.
Indian Railways has launched an ambitious project to streamline worker verification processes through the integration of AI and blockchain technology. The newly deployed Smart Workforce Management System, known as DRISHTI, promises to significantly reduce fraud and inefficiencies, tackling longstanding issues of ghost employee fraud within the organization.
This cutting-edge system uses facial recognition to verify employee attendance and locks these records securely on the blockchain, making them impervious to tampering. Initially rolled out in Prayagraj, the project is a collaborative effort involving ChainCode Consulting LLP, Billions Network, and the Aptos Foundation, and is poised for expansion across the railway network.
DRISHTI's implementation marks a substantial advancement in workforce governance, setting a benchmark for similar large-scale public sector deployments. With India's considerable railway workforce, reliable verification systems are essential to ensure accurate compensations and reduce administrative burden, all while safeguarding worker data privacy.
