India has offered a USD 100 million loan to Nigeria as the West African country aims to strengthen rural internet, according to reports by Nigerian media. The loan is reportedly arranged by EXIM Bank of India.

Nigerian government aims to deploy solar-based mobile telephone sites after the expansion of the internet in rural areas.

According to Guardian Nigeria, a document yesterday said the loan will facilitate the financing of the nation's rural broadband network and deployment of robust masts to complement alternative power sources.
