Instagram has mass-banned over 50+ meme pages that had more than 30 million followers collectively. The step, also being called Instagram meme purge of July 2019, has led to massive outrage and the ban seems permanent although the company has not yet issued a satisfactory clarification in this matter. Facebook, however, did say actions were taken against accounts that "abused our internal processes."
Some of the most popular pages that were banned include @finestinventions (13 million followers), @finest.inventions (12.1 million), @uniquevines (8.4 million), @medicalthing (2.7 million), @laugh.s (3 million), @meccha.memes (2.4 million), and @succcccccccccccc (3.7 million). We could not link the profiles because well... they don't exist anymore, courtesy of Instagram meme purge.

It all started on July 26 and Instagram has since launched a "crackdown" on meme pages, people are saying. Some working theories suggest that pages that were using their popularity to earn money are being targetted but unless Instagram or Facebook issues a more meaningful statement.
Many people have turned to a competitor Reddit as a source of finding new memes after Instagram meme purge of July 2019. Honestly, Reddit has a lot of them and with less scrutiny but finding your way can be tricky in the beginning.
