Confirmed! Vivo NEX 3 5G flagship smartphone to be launched in September

After introducing the world's first pop-up camera phone, first half-screen in-display fingerprint scanning and dual-display technology, the Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is all set to launch its next flagship smartphone Vivo NEX 3 in September, the company's official Weibo account for NEX confirmed on Monday. In a Weibo post, Vivo's official page for NEX flagship smartphones shared an image of NEX 3 5G phone with the caption: coming! #5GSmart Flagship NEX 3#, released in September!

As clearly shown in the screenshot, the Vivo NEX 3 will support 5G connectivity, the next-generation cellular technology, which further hints that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, the most advanced mobile platform to date.

To recall, the Snapdragon 855 Plus was unveiled in mid-July. With a boost in CPU and GPU performance, the platform will take the gaming, cutting-edge 5G, AI and XR experience to a whole new level. Built especially to raise gaming experience to the next level, the chipset is an upgradation to the 2019 Android flagship Snapdragon 855 5G mobile processor. Using the X50 5G modem and Qualcomm Technologies' RF Front-end solutions, the new processor also supports 5Gconnectivity to deliver cutting-edge cellular performance, superior coverage and all-day battery life in premium 5G-enabled devices.

Last week, Vivo's Product Manager Li Xiang shared pictures of Vivo NEX 3, the third variant of the NEX family, with a bezel-free and notch-less display and a dual-curved edge on a dark background. The display of the phone resembles that of OPPO's "waterfall screen" prototype with an 88-degree fold on both sides that was unveiled last month. Sharing a sketch of the upcoming next-generation flagship device, the company revealed a wristwatch as the inspiration behind the phone's design.

According to the sketch, the phone will feature a waterfall screen display with a triple rear camera setup in a circular module. If rumors are to be believed, the Vivo NEX 3 will come with a 99.6 percent screen-to-body ratio, a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and fast-charging technology.
