Under construction flyover collapses in Varanasi
The flyover being built was to be completed several months ago.

A portion of under construction bridge in Varanasi collapsed leading to at least 18 casualties. The portion of the bridge collapsed near railway cantt hospital.
More than 50 people are feared to be trapped under the debris of the bridge. The DGP informed that the NDRF team has reached the site and rescue operation is underway.
Extending his grief the Prime Minister tweeted, "Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi. I pray that the injured recover soon. Spoke to officials and asked them to ensure all possible support to those affected."
The flyover being built was supposed to connect Varanasi Cantt railway station with Lehertara. The construction of the flyover had to be completed several months ago. The flyover of 2261 metres in length of 129 crores was being built by the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation and more than 50 percent of the work was completed before this incident happened.
