China negotiates with the Tanzanian government over the USD 10 million Bagamoyo mega port to give new life to the stalled project. The whole project, including roads, railways, and the economic zone is expected to take 10 years for completion.

China and Tanzania are trying to work things out regarding the Bagamoyo project. This is a big and vital project in relation to our bilateral ties said, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Wang Ke.

Oman's State General Reserve Fund and the state-run China Merchants Holdings International are collaborating with the Tanzanian government to invest in one of the biggest ports in Africa in coming future.

Government officials said the envisaged Bagamoyo port will be capable of handling mega-ships with a container vessel size of 8,000 twenty-foot equivalent units after the first phase is completed.
