The Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Sanjay Jaju, announced today that the 18th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will take place from June 15th to June 21st, 2024, in Mumbai. The festival will also include screenings in Delhi, Chennai, Pune, and Kolkata, in addition to the main venue at the FD-NFDC Complex in Mumbai.
MIFF Film Programming
A record-breaking 1018 films were submitted for the competition sections this year.
102 films have been carefully selected for the International (25) and National (77) competition sections by three Selection Committees consisting of eminent film experts. The high quality of submissions made the selection process challenging.
A total of 314 films from 59 countries across 61 languages will be featured in the MIFF Programming.
The festival will showcase 8 world premieres, 5 international premieres, 18 Asia premieres, and 21 India Premieres.
Special packages include films from the Oscars and Berlinale, 'Special Country Focus Packages' from 7 collaborating countries, an animation package, student films, restored classics, and competition films on the special theme of "India at Amrit kaal."
Opening & Closing Film
The festival will kick off with the screening of "Billy & Molly, an Otter Love Story" on June 15th, 2024.
The Closing Film will be the winner of the Golden Conch, to be showcased on June 21st, 2024.
Jury & Awards
The International Competition jury includes renowned film personalities who will award the Golden Conch, Silver Conch, and the Pramod Pati Award.
The National Competition jury comprises notable names who will confer awards in various categories, including technical awards.
A total of Rs 42 lakhs will be awarded.
Accessible Festival
Special provisions have been made for the visually challenged and hearing impaired, including films with audio descriptions and closed captions.
The festival venue will be fully accessible for people with disabilities, thanks to a partnership with Svayam.
Gala Opening/Closing Ceremony & Red Carpets
Grand opening and closing ceremonies will be held at NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai.
Red carpet screenings will be held daily, with exclusive red carpets in other cities.
Masterclass & Panel Discussions
20 masterclasses, in-conversations, and panel discussions will be hosted with industry luminaries.
Open forum discussions will be held daily at the Amphitheatre venue.
Doc Film Bazaar
DOC Film Bazaar is being organized for the first time, providing a platform for filmmakers to find buyers, sponsors, and collaborators.
Close to 200 projects have been received from 10 countries in 27 languages.
Dedicated Portal & Mobile App for MIFF
An interactive website and a dedicated mobile app have been developed for the festival.
Delegate Registrations
Delegate registrations are mandatory and can be done through the festival website or Book My Show.
Delegate registration fees vary by location, with Mumbai registrations priced at Rs 500 for the entire festival.
