Barley prices were higher by Rs 7.50 to Rs 1,660 per quintal today as traders raised holdings, taking positive cues from the spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for October edged up by Rs 7.50 or 0.45 percent to Rs 1,660 per quintal, having an open interest of 6,540 lots.
Barley, for delivery in September up by Rs 2 or 0.12 percent to Rs 1,615 per quintal, with an open interest in 2,330 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in barley futures prices was mostly in line with a firm trend at the spot markets on increased demand from beer makers and tight supplies.
