Some cargo trains run by Mexico's Ferromex have restarted after being suspended following a series of injuries to migrants traveling on them, the rail operator's parent company said on Wednesday. "Those (trains) where migrants have gotten off have begun to move," a spokesperson for Ferromex owner Grupo Mexico said. "The others remain halted."

Ferromex said on Tuesday it temporarily suspended operations of 60 trains on northbound routes after nearly half a dozen deaths or injuries of migrants using the cargo trains to travel. Ferromex said in its statement that the presence of migrants in its railcars and rail yards had grown "significantly" in recent days, growing to more than 4,000 in several cities throughout the country.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said earlier on Wednesday he had been told Ferromex was restarting trains.
