Kremlin calls Bulgaria's airspace ban on Lavrov's plane 'absurd and stupid'

The Kremlin said on Thursday that Bulgaria's decision to prevent a plane carrying Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov from flying over its territory was "absurd and stupid".

The plane was forced to take a longer route over Greece to deliver Lavrov and Maria Zakharova, his spokeswoman, to a meeting of foreign ministers of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Zakharova earlier on Thursday accused Bulgaria of "malicious stupidity."
