Hong Kong's Legislative Council on Tuesday unanimously passed the city's new national security bill, 11 days after it was published by the government.
The 90-member council, stacked with Beijing loyalists, has been discussing the bill since March 8, including weekend sessions to fast-track it.
The package, known as Article 23, updates or creates new laws and penalties to prohibit treason, sabotage, sedition, the theft of state secrets and espionage.
