Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA), a global leader in imaging and print solutions, has partnered with Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR) to launch the Women Who Empower 2024 programme in Nigeria. This initiative aims to uplift and support women in the imaging and print industries through a series of workshops, mentorship opportunities, and networking events, promoting their growth and advancement in these fields.

Aligned with Canon's corporate philosophy 'Kyosei' and this year’s International Women's Day theme of "Inspire Inclusion," the programme is designed to provide a platform for women to showcase their work, gain access to necessary tools, and excel through investment and training programmes.

Key Highlights:

Empowering Women in Imaging and Printing:

Workshops and Training: The programme will commence on 15 May 2024, featuring workshops on printing, photography, and content creation. Each module includes four sessions—two theory and two practicals—allowing participants to select areas of interest and gain hands-on experience with Canon equipment.

Expert Guidance: Renowned Nigerian creative professionals and Canon ambassadors Daniel Ehimen and Emmanuel Oyeleke will conduct sessions. Ehimen will lead the content creation course, focusing on videography principles, camera mastery, and storytelling. Oyeleke will lead the photography and printing workshops, emphasizing the fundamentals of photography, storytelling, and printing solutions.

Commitment to Gender Equality:

Corporate Philosophy: This initiative reflects Canon's commitment to 'Kyosei,' fostering a culture of inclusivity and gender equality in workplace leadership roles.

Strategic Partnership: Somesh Adukia, Managing Director of CCNA, emphasized the importance of skills development and empowerment of women for societal and economic advancement. The partnership with WISCAR aims to create meaningful opportunities for women to thrive professionally and contribute to economic growth.

Support and Resources:

Comprehensive Support: Canon will provide all necessary resources, including imaging and printing equipment. Participants will receive certificates and valuable feedback upon completion of the workshops.

Collaboration and Impact: The programme underscores the collaborative efforts between Canon and WISCAR to pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society in Nigeria. Mrs. Amina Oyagbola, Founder & Chairperson of WISCAR, highlighted the commitment to providing women with the resources and opportunities needed for professional success.

The Women Who Empower 2024 programme represents a significant step towards advancing gender equality and empowering women in the imaging and print industries in Africa. Through this initiative, Canon and WISCAR aim to inspire and support the next generation of female leaders, fostering innovation and growth in these vital sectors.
