The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has called on the Ministry of Labour and Employment to investigate repeated delays in the onboarding process for over 2,000 campus recruits by tech giant Infosys. The union alleges these delays, which have spanned more than two years, have placed immense strain on the affected professionals, leaving them 'in a limbo'.
Infosys has not provided any comments on the allegations. Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES, emphasized that Infosys' actions constitute a 'serious breach of trust,' given that many recruits had declined other job offers in good faith, based on Infosys' offer letters. 'Now, they face financial hardship and uncertainty due to the lack of income and a clear onboarding timeline,' said Saluja.
NITES has formally written to the Ministry, urging an investigation to ensure Infosys honors its commitments to new hires. The union is calling for full salary payments for the period in which onboarding has been delayed and immediate access to Infosys’ employee assistance programs to mitigate mental and emotional strain. Additionally, NITES has requested that Infosys either expedite the onboarding process or actively help recruits find alternative employment within the company. The union insists that swift action is necessary to protect these employees and ensure they are not unduly penalized for the company's decisions.
