DMRC Ensures Passenger Comfort Amid Heatwave

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is facilitating comfortable journeys for commuters by maintaining temperatures at 24 degrees Celsius. With record ridership in May reaching 60.17 lakh, DMRC operates over 4,200 train trips daily. Measures include providing breaks for staff during heat, ensuring the performance of AC units, and maintaining fire safety protocols.

In response to this summer's heatwave, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is ensuring commuter comfort by maintaining a cool 24 degrees Celsius within its trains. This effort coincides with a record-breaking daily ridership of 60.17 lakh passengers in May, the highest for the month.

Operating over 4,200 train trips covering 1.40 lakh kilometres daily, the DMRC provides essential relief to passengers. Additionally, the agency is taking measures to protect its workforce from the intense heat by offering breaks and necessary provisions like drinking water and medical facilities.

With a fleet of over 345 trains housing around 5,000 air conditioning units, the DMRC carries out comprehensive checks on these units before the summer season begins. Underground stations are equipped with advanced management systems for real-time temperature control, maintaining a comfortable range of 25 to 27 degrees Celsius.
