The Mitali Express, facilitating travel between New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in northern West Bengal and Dhaka, Bangladesh, will be temporarily halted for three days due to Eid celebrations. The decision, jointly taken by the Indian Railways and Bangladesh Railway, was officially announced by the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR).
As per the NFR's release, the Mitali Express will not operate from NJP on June 12, 16, and 19, and from Dhaka on June 13, 17, and 20. Normal services are expected to resume post the Eid festivities in Bangladesh. This suspension mirrors last year's interruption during the same festival period.
Launched in 2022 to enhance cross-border rail connectivity, the Mitali Express is one of three train services between India and Bangladesh. To accommodate increased passenger demand, NFR will also extend services of special trains between Mysuru-Muzaffarpur and Rani Kamlapati-Agartala.
