Tripura to Launch Direct Paddy Procurement from Farmers

The Tripura government will begin direct procurement of paddy from farmers on June 15 at Rs 21.83 per kg. The initiative, covering 15,000 metric tonnes of paddy from 31 blocks, aims to enhance farmers' financial conditions. The process, spearheaded by key ministers, will continue until July 15.

The Tripura government is set to commence direct procurement of paddy from farmers starting June 15, announced Food and Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday.

Paddy will be bought at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 21.83 per kilogram, with the procurement process extending until July 15.

“The state government has decided to procure 15,000 metric tonnes of paddy at an MSP of Rs 21.83 per kilogram from farmers in 31 blocks spread across six districts. The process will commence on June 15 and continue until July 15,” stated Chowdhury at a press briefing.
