The status of the wreckage and potential survivors remains uncertain. The single-engine Piper PA-46 went down around 2 PM Sunday near Sidney village, after departing from the Albert S Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Sara Taylor Sulick, spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board, confirmed the plane was en route to Charleston, West Virginia, when it crashed under mysterious circumstances. The FAA is collaborating with the NTSB in the ongoing investigation.
